Phase 2 Recipients

Summary

Theologians interested in expanding their understanding of the psychological sciences by working with psychology faculty are invited to apply to receive training in a research lab environment. Theologians will be paired with psychology mentors of their choosing. Mentors will meet with their theologians at least twice a month, and theologians will participate in their mentor’s lab for approximately half a year, learning alongside grad students, post-docs, and research staff. With this practical experience, not only will theologians be better consumers of psychological science (e.g., evaluate design/methodology decisions of studies), but they will also be better prepared to engage psychological collaborators through recognition of the challenges and trade-offs that are always required in empirical inquiry. Participants will be eligible to apply for an additional $30,000 of salary funding over a year and $5,000-40,000 for a collaborative empirical study with a psychology lab in Phase 3.
